Elijah's 5th.

As I said earlier, I long to blog a bit more in the future, but my good intentions fall to the way side as life seems to be busier and busier. I don't really think there's much more on my plate, just the desire to give my children, husband, and home attention. The more I give it seems the more is brought to the surface that needs attention. The blogging world seems to have slowed down, but I am not ready to give up on it. I enjoy looking back on old posts too much. I think I documented much more of our family than I would have without the blog. So, even though most people are writing about the New Year and I'm playing catch up from sometime this Summer, I'm going to keep at it.

Elijah's birthday was at the beginning of the December. When I found out I was pregnant and he'd be sharing his birthday month with Christmas I knew I was going to have to be very intentional about not letting it get brushed aside with the business of the holiday seasons. Each year I work hard to make it special, but this year has been my favorite celebration so far.
I love celebrating on the actual day of someones birthday. We made him a special breakfast, skyped with his Papa and Yiayia, my parents came over to bring some early gifts. The day was a fun day of reading books and playing his favorite games. Then Caleb came home from work a little early and we met him at the skating rink. Elijah requested skating, even though he's never done it. My mom and sister came, and some good friends of ours. Although, we had a hard time staying up (except Caleb, who I found out is a good skater) we had a great time. Elijah didn't want to get off. When we finally got him off the rink we went back to our house and for taco's and cake. Elijah's good friend Conner's birthday is just two days after Elijah's so we celebrated him also.
I wanted Elijah to feel special and celebrated and I think he loved it all. It wasn't stressful or over the top, just simple and sweet.

Happy 5th Birthday Elijah.
