Banana Bread

Pregnancy brings out many weird cravings for me. It's hard for me to plan dinners cause I never know what will make me sick. It changes hourly. I'm incredibly grateful for Caleb during these times. He's so gracious. He laughs at all the crazy things I want and will go to whatever lengths to get it for me. One time he drove an hour to a Red Lobster just to get me their biscuits!

Anyways, this really isn't a weird craving, but the other day I had to have some Banana Bread. It might have just been my mood, but it turned out so good. I thought I would share the easiest recipe with you all.

Preheat oven to 350

1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. soda
3 very ripe banana's (if your banana's are about to go bad, but don't have time to make something with them just throw them in your freezer and pull them out when you're ready.)
Nuts if you so desire...I do not desire them, but I won't fault you if you do.

Cream shortening with salt and sugar, then add your eggs, mix, then add the rest. See I told you it was easy. Cook for about an hour. Our oven is very temperamental so I just pull mine out when the center is done.

Growing up...

Elijah is growing up so fast. Yesterday he decided would be the day he would start walking. He had taken his first steps about a month ago, but then only wanted to crawl. Yesterday, he just started walking all over the apartment. Caleb and I couldn't believe it.

I'm still loving every minute with him. He brings more joy to our lives than I ever imagined. It's hard though...somedays I think I've kind of figured the parenting thing out and other days I don't have a clue. God is so gracious though. He's carried me through every minute and always gives me the strength I need.

A photographer at our church opens up his studio once a year to raise money for Summer Missions. He takes pictures for fifteen minutes and just asks we leave a donation. All the money goes to the mission trips people in our church will be going on. I signed Elijah up and these are some of the shots he got.

My working boys.

There are so many things I love about my husband and the longer we're together the longer the list gets. I feel blessed!

One, of the many things is his incredible work ethic. Caleb is a self started. Which I admire greatly.(especially, cause sometimes I need a little motivation to get things done.) In his short life he's already accomplished so much and he does it all with excellence. As some of you know Caleb graduated seminary last year. He went with the intent to grow in his knowledge of scripture and possibly go on the mission field. His love for the lost is huge, another reason I love him! When we got married we both thought when he graduated we would head overseas, but God's changed our direction a little. We still desire to work overseas on some level, but maybe not right now.

Caleb started his own construction company. He worked construction to pay his way through seminary, but recently has grown in his love for it. He got his contractors license and started Bussell Construction. He wakes up every morning excited about what he does and he feels like this is where God has us for a little while. He is so talented in what he does. I can't tell you all how proud I am of his work.

Well, Elijah is proud too. He loves hearing daddy's power tools. Whenever he hears someone working outside our apartment he thinks it's Caleb and goes to the door calling for "dada." We are blessed that Caleb sometimes gets to work at our apartment complex building things here, or doing remodels of the apartments. When he does Elijah and I usually go find him working and hang out with him a little. This was the case the other day when I snapped this pictures. I think my boys are so cute I had to share them with you. (You can't really tell in these pictures, but Caleb had work shirts made for the company and made one Elijah's size!)

Valentine's Day

I've had mixed feelings on this holiday before, mostly it came and went without me caring too much. But I've grown to love it for so many reasons. Your just not going to hear me complaining about a whole day set aside to celebrate those you love. Now, I think we should be showing love towards others everyday, but there's something fun about all the decorations. cards, candy, and flowers.
Caleb and I don't necessarily go all out for Valentines Day, in fact this year Caleb asked me what I wanted to do and I told him nothing. I just wanted to come home from church and relax with Elijah and him. (I did say I didn't want to cook, but he usually cooks on Sunday's anyways.) So, that's what we did. I did get him a card and made him a cheesecake. (one of his favorite things) And he surprised me with a little something. I ran out do do some errands really fast and when I came back I opened the door to a floor covered with cut out hearts that Elijah and him did together with all the things they loved about me written on them. They both got me a card, roses, and some of my favorite candy. What a fun surprise. I love them both so much!

The pictures I took of the day didn't turn out too well though. A friend gave us this really nice camera with two different lenses, but I'm still figuring out how to use it. I've actually had a really hard time figuring out all the settings. Our apartment has horrible lighting so this is the best I could do.
